Leica Optics

The HDC-SD9 is equipped with a Leica Dicomar 10x zoom lens that has been specially designed for use with High Definition camcorders. Its advanced coatings also help to further reduce flare and ghosting. The Tele-Macro capability of this lens means that shooting from as little as 50cm away is possible at full zoom setting.

HD Advanced Pure Color Engine

This imaging circuitry has been developed from Panasonic’s professional video range and is specifically designed for handling huge quantities quickly and efficiently whilst keeping power consumption to a minimum. LSI Video Compression is also used to make the most of data space without sacrificing image quality.

Surround Sound with Zoom and Focus modes

This model is equipped with five built-in microphones to make full use of Dolby 5.1-channel surround sound. In addition to this it is possible to focus in on sounds directly in the line of sight of the camera. Zoom Mode zooms in sympathy with the lens action and Focus Mode focuses on this area regardless of the zoom setting employed.

High Resolution 16:9 LCD Monitor

With 300,000 pixel resolution and full 16:9 frame coverage, it is possible to confidently assess the sharpness and overall image quality during recording. Its viewing angle of 170 degrees makes viewing from difficult angles far easier. For outdoor conditions, the Power LCD Extra feature increases brightness by 80% and increases contrast as well for intense lighting conditions.
